We’re The Outside Social Club — a Boston-based community built to make the outdoors feel inclusive, safe, and genuinely fun for everyone.

We started this because we were tired of being the only people of color on the slopes, the trails, and the crag. Every time we looked around, we saw the same story: adventure spaces full of energy and potential, but missing the diversity that makes our cities, our stories, and our culture so vibrant. We knew there were countless people who were curious — people who wanted to hike, ski, or climb — but didn’t have a place or a group that felt like home.

So, we built one.

The Outside Social Club exists to help people rediscover nature on their own terms. Our mission is to create spaces where BIPOC individuals — and anyone who’s ever felt out of place in traditional outdoor culture — can try something new, connect with community, and feel free to just be. Be curious. Be playful. Be themselves.

We lead hikes, ski trips, climbing sessions, and other adventures that are as much about the people as the activity itself. Whether you’re stepping onto the trail for the first time or hitting the slopes every weekend, you’ll find that our community is built on five core values: Community, Curiosity, Respect, Inclusivity, and Stewardship.

We measure success not by numbers alone, but by the stories people share. The laughter echoing on a trail. The new friendships formed over après beers. The member who skis for the first time and signs up for the next trip before they even get home. Since launching, we’ve hosted over 16 events and introduced more than 60 BIPOC individuals to skiing and snowboarding. Across all of 2025, we’ve engaged more than 180 amazing people — and we’re just getting started.

Our partners — like Arc’teryx Boston, Rock Spot Climbing, Great Malden Outdoors, and Idle Hands Brewery — help us make each experience possible. Together, we’re proving that the outdoors can be as inclusive and joyful as it is adventurous.

At The Outside Social Club, we believe the outdoors isn’t a luxury. It’s our birthright. It’s where we reconnect with ourselves, with community, and with the world around us. Whether you come for the hike, the hang, or the après beers, we’re glad you’re here.
